Board Plan MLM Software

A board plan is an MLM compensation structure in which members join a small fixed board, move upward as new positions fill, and exit from the top once the board completes, after which the board splits into two new boards. MLM.ERP board MLM software automates board filling, splitting, auto-fill, re-entry and multi-stage progression without manual tracking.

Who is the Board Plan best for?

Companies running a simple product-linked cycling model that want transparent, rule-based board progression.

How it works

The Board plan in 5 steps

  1. 1

A board has fixed positions, for example 1 at the top, 2 in the middle and 4 at the bottom.

  2. 2

New members join the bottom row of an open board.

  3. 3

When the bottom row fills, the top member exits and receives the board completion reward.

  4. 4

The board splits into two new boards and everyone moves up one row.

  5. 5

Exiting members can re-enter or progress to a higher-stage board, depending on your rules.

Income types

How distributors earn in a Board plan

Every income type below is configurable in MLM.ERP: rates, levels, caps and qualification rules.

Board exit bonus

A fixed reward paid to the top member when their board completes.

Stage progression

Movement to the next board stage, which may carry a different reward and size.

Sponsor bonus

A reward to the sponsor when their personally introduced member joins a board.

Re-entry credit

An optional automatic re-entry into a new board after exit, funded from the completion reward.

Worked example

See the numbers in action

Consider a 1-2-4 board with 7 positions. A member enters on the bottom row. As 4 more members join beneath the middle row over time, the board fills and the top member exits with the configured completion reward. The board splits in two, and our member moves up to the middle row of one new board. After two more splits, they reach the top and exit in turn.

Pros & considerations

Is the Board plan right for you?

Why companies choose it

  • Very easy for members to visualise progress toward exit.
  • Small boards complete quickly when product demand is steady.
  • Multi-stage design adds clear long-term goals.
  • Strong automation removes disputes about who moved where.

What to design carefully

  • Board plans depend on continuous joining; stalled recruitment leaves members stuck on lower rows.
  • Cycling models that pay mainly from entry fees can be treated as prohibited money-circulation schemes, including in India.
  • Entry must be tied to real products or services with genuine value, and this should be reviewed by legal counsel.

Best for Companies running a simple product-linked cycling model that want transparent, rule-based board progression. Board plan: common questions

Ask a question
How does a board MLM plan work?

Members join the bottom of a small board. As new positions fill, the board completes and the member at the top exits with a reward. The board then splits into two, everyone moves up a row, and the cycle repeats. MLM.ERP handles splitting, repositioning and rewards automatically.

Is a board plan legal in India?

It depends on design. India’s Consumer Protection (Direct Selling) Rules, 2021 prohibit pyramid and money-circulation schemes, so a board plan that pays mainly from entry fees is risky. A plan linked to genuine products with clear refund policies stands on firmer ground. Always obtain legal advice before launch.

What is auto-fill in a board plan?

Auto-fill places new members into the next available position across boards, so no board waits on one sponsor’s recruiting. You can choose whether auto-fill follows sponsor lines or a global queue. The software logs each placement, giving members and admins a clear audit trail.

Can members re-enter after exiting a board?

Yes, if your plan allows it. Re-entry can be manual, or automatic with part of the completion reward used to purchase a new position. MLM.ERP lets you switch re-entry on or off per stage and limit how many times a member can cycle through the same stage.
