Unilevel Plan MLM Software

A unilevel plan is an MLM compensation structure where every member sponsors directly onto a single front line with no width limit, and earns a percentage of product volume across a set number of levels below. MLM.ERP unilevel MLM software automates monthly volume tracking, rank-based level unlocks, dynamic compression and repurchase commissions from one configurable engine.

How a unilevel plan is structured (illustrative)

Who is the Unilevel Plan best for?

Consumer-product brands with regular repeat purchases, such as wellness, personal care or household goods.

How it works

The Unilevel plan in 5 steps

  1. 1

Every new member is placed directly under their sponsor, with no width limit.

  2. 2

Members accumulate personal volume (PV) and group volume (GV) from product orders each month.

  3. 3

At month end, the engine checks each member’s active status and rank.

  4. 4

Rank determines how many levels a member is paid on, and at what percentage.

  5. 5

Volume from inactive members is compressed upward to the next active upline.

Income types

How distributors earn in a Unilevel plan

Every income type below is configurable in MLM.ERP: rates, levels, caps and qualification rules.

Unilevel commission

A percentage of each level’s monthly product volume, set per level and per rank.

Retail profit

The margin between distributor price and retail price on sales to customers.

Fast-start bonus

An extra percentage on a new member’s first orders, paid to the sponsor.

Rank bonus

A monthly or one-time reward for achieving or maintaining a rank.

Infinity bonus

An optional override beyond the standard depth for top leaders, stopping at the next equal rank.

Worked example

See the numbers in action

A member has 6 personally sponsored members (level 1) who each order 100 PV in a month, plus 20 members on level 2 ordering 80 PV each. With rates of 5% on level 1 and 4% on level 2, the member earns 30 points from level 1 (600 PV × 5%) and 64 points from level 2 (1,600 PV × 4%), a total of 94 points, provided they meet the monthly personal PV requirement.

Pros & considerations

Is the Unilevel plan right for you?

Why companies choose it

  • Simple sponsorship: everyone you enrol sits on your front line.
  • Strongly tied to product consumption and retail customers.
  • Rank-based depth rewards members who build sustainable teams.
  • Widely used and familiar to experienced direct sellers.

What to design carefully

  • Very wide front lines can be hard for one sponsor to support, which affects retention.
  • Monthly active-status rules must be fair, or members may feel pressured into self-purchases.
  • Commission on shallow levels can feel small early on; consider a fast-start bonus to help new members.

Unilevel plan: common questions

Ask a question
How does a unilevel MLM plan work?

Every member you sponsor sits on your first level, with no limit on width. You earn a percentage of the product volume generated on each level below you, up to the depth your rank allows. Commissions are usually calculated monthly, after the software checks who is active.

What is compression in a unilevel plan?

Compression skips members who did not meet the monthly activity requirement, so their downline’s volume rolls up to the next active upline. Without it, volume below an inactive member could go unpaid. MLM.ERP applies dynamic compression automatically during monthly closing.

Is unilevel better than binary?

Neither is universally better. Unilevel suits product-focused businesses with repeat orders and is easy to explain. Binary suits companies that want team-building incentives and frequent pairing payouts. Many companies run a hybrid, and MLM.ERP supports both engines in a single platform.

Can a unilevel plan pay weekly instead of monthly?

Yes. While monthly closing is common, MLM.ERP lets you set weekly, fortnightly or monthly cycles, or pay certain bonuses such as fast-start instantly. Each income type can follow its own schedule and still appear in a single, clear wallet statement.
